We welcome you to Fontana!
Fontana is at the heart of the Golden Circle, Iceland’s most popular tourist route, and invites visitors to experience the healing power of natural geothermal springs. Soak in the warm water, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam room, or take a refreshing dip in the lake. The new and improved facility will feature improved locker rooms, a new sauna, steam bath built above a natural hot spring, and pools that extend into Lake Laugarvatn, all designed to honor and elevate the area’s environment and rich history.
New sauna
The new sauna features a large panoramic window offering a breathtaking view of Lake Laugarvatn. The intense heat of the sauna has a range of health benefits, from supporting detoxification to improving cardiovascular health. For the full Nordic-style experience, step out to cool off in the lake before returning for another round in the sauna.
New steam bath
Since 1929, locals have embraced the healing power of natural steam baths by Lake Laugarvatn. Hot, soothing steam rises directly from the ground. You can hear, see and smell the boiling natural hot spring right beneath your feet, creating a natural and unique experience. The new steam bath will highlight the natural hot spring and honor the bathing traditions cherished by locals over the years.
New bathing experience
The new pools will extend into Lake Laugarvatn with connected baths that vary in depth, size, and temperature. Designed for both relaxation and recreation, the pools will also include a new in-water bar where guests can enjoy refreshing drinks without leaving the water.
